Since its establishment in Mumbai in 1941 by Kantilal Chhotalal Mehta, the KC brand has become a global symbol of innovation, creativity, and masterful craftsmanship.
In 1941, with his passion for diamonds and innate business acumen, our founder, the late Kantilal Chhotalal Mehta set up his diamond trading business after taking the blessings of Mahatma Gandhi himself. Born into a jewellery background, it was only natural that he entered the diamond business. Thereafter whatever he did, he did with dedication and a thirst for perfection.

Fueled by an all-consuming passion for diamonds, KC’s journey can be likened to the transformation of a diamond – from raw and unpolished carbon to a sparkling, exquisitely refined gemstone. "I have always been entranced by diamonds," said Mr. Mehta."I would study them intently, marvelling at their purity and the way they were cut. That fascination has evolved into a lifelong passion."
Kantilal Mehta amassed an unrivalled collection of diamonds and precious stones alongside a wealth of artistic and cultural inspirations. He cherished the people he met through his business. "KC is a family business,"he said, "and the people who enter our offices and purchase our jewellery become part of our family. We cherish our jewels as we would our own children, offering pieces that will last a lifetime."
KCM handed down an innate eye for exceptional gemstones and flair for craftsmanship to the next generation. Over the years, he built a network of relationships across the world and used his vast knowledge and expertise to nurture the next generation of diamantaires. He took the time to share his passion and has trained hundreds of young individuals, instilling in them the skills necessary to excel in the industry. His dedication to education has not gone unnoticed, as his three books on diamonds are considered treasures of knowledge and are still highly regarded in the industry.

The Timeline Of Key Moments
1921
Born on 4th July 1921 in Calcutta, father was a jeweller.
1941
Travelled at the age of 20 years from Palanpur to Mumbai in 1941 via Wardha where he had gone to seek blessings of Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhiji gave his blessings asking KCM to follow high standards of ethics and morality
Registered in 1941 as a propritory firm, started at Ramchandra Mansion in Opera House area. Also opened an office at Gurukul Chambers in Zaveri Bazaar area
1967
A new import export policy was announced by Govt of India in 1967. This policy allowed import of rough diamonds for exports. KC commenced manufacturing in 1967. Became one of the first company to import rough diamonds
1975
Moved to new office at Hermes House at Opera House in 1975. Several of the largest diamonds cut and polished in India passed through this office.
1986
Kantilal Mehta’s son Ashish joins the business in April 1986
1993
KCM passes away Jan 1993
2000
KC went into manufacturing of diamond studded jewellery
2012
KC’s head office moved to the Bharat Diamond Bourse in 2012
2014
KC’s first international office opened in Hong Kong, closely followed by Dubai and Jakarta
